I have Comcast cable TV and I want more information about splitting
the cable wire. My current setup has the cable line coming into the
house split 3 ways (1 to basement, 1 to first floor, 1 to upstairs)
and then both the 1st floor and upstairs are each split once. So, my
cable line has 5 end points (1 of which is not connected to anything).
My questions are:
1. Does this splitting degrade the signal? I know there is by
definition some signal degradation, but I am wondering if it is anything a
normal person could notice. I am viewing on a 50" HD TV, a 32" TV, and a 13" TV.
2. If there is noticeable degradation, would a signal amplifier be a good idea?
If so, what should I look for when purchasing an amplifier?
3. Is there any noticeable difference between a basic ($3) splitter
and the more expensive "gold plated home theater" splitters ($10 +)?
I am looking for authoritative sources, not just comments from a bulletin board.
Any questions, please request clarification. |
