I want to go on a vacacation for spring break (March 24-April 2 are
the possible days, although I've told my son's dad that I'm taking the
first 4-5 days, it might be flexible). I will be taking my two boys,
ages 15 and 8 1/2. I have limited funds, about $2000 to fly from
Little Rock to somewhere with a great beach and great waves. That is
really important for my 15 year old. I have researched beaches in
Florida. One friend suggested Cocoa Beach because Cape Canaveral is
nearby and that would be a good thing to do one day with them (the
youngest was interested, the oldest just wants to play in the water.
I've looked at some cruises. There are some that are reasonably priced
but you spend so much time at sea and not on the beach. Cocoa Beach
(actually Orlando, no info was available on cocoa that I could find)
has an average temp in March of 66.7 degrees. I realize that includes
night, too, but I am thinking that may really not be warm enough for
being IN the water all the time. College students go there at spring
break to hang out ON the beach but if he can't be IN the water and
playing with the big waves (preferably ocean side rather than gulf,
which I've heard is a little warmer) my 15 year old will be
disppointed. If he is disappointed, he is very unpleasant to be
around. Oh, one other factor to add to the equation is that a friend
from Jacksonville can drive down and join us if we don't go TOO far
from there and that would add to the fun since I'm a single parent.
So right now I can't really come up with something in which this all
adds up and works. Any suggestions?
