Hi kelp76!!

Thank you for asking to Google Answers.
I found the information that you need and I compiled it in an Excel
Spreadsheet after filtered from the large databases that includes all
cities and towns.
The source of information are the following tables:
- Tables 4: Annual Estimates of the Population for Incorporated Places
in each State, Listed Alphabetically: April 1, 2000 to July 1, 2003,
from Population Division, U.S. Census Bureau; release date: June 24,
2004.
"Population Estimates for All Places: 2000 to 2003 - Cities and Towns":
http://www.census.gov/popest/cities/SUB-EST2003-04.html

and
- Tables 5: Annual Estimates of the Population for Minor Civil
Divisions in some States, Listed Alphabetically Within County: April
1, 2000 to July 1, 2003 , from Population Division, U.S. Census
Bureau; release date: June 24, 2004.
"Population Estimates for All Places: 2000 to 2003 - Cities and Towns":
http://www.census.gov/popest/cities/SUB-EST2003-05.html

I splitted the data in two different sheets, one for the incorporated
places that includes cities and towns and the other for the minor
civil divisions that includes townships, villages, and also town and
cities in some states, for more clear definitions see:
"Population Estimates Geography":
http://www.census.gov/popest/geographic/

You can download the spreadsheet from the following link:

Search strategy:
navigated the Census.gov site

I hope that this helps you. If you hava any trouble to get the file,
please just tell me using the clarification feature, I will gladly
respond your requests and/or try a different method to make the
spreadsheet available to you.
Note that I cannot send it to you via e-mail due Google Answers policies.

GREAT WORK!! Thank you so much. I did notice that 3 states are
missing (there are only 47). What 3 states are missing and is there
any data on them?

Hi!!

I think that you are requesting info about Hawaii, Massachusets and Rhode Island.
I will clarify this:
- Massachusets: The info for Massachusets is all in the Minor Civil
Divisions sheet of the spreadsheet that I prepared for you because the
Census Bureau include minor cities in this category for census
purposes. The Massachusets' Incorporated Places are all cities larger
than 10,000 inhabitants. See:
"Annual Estimates of the Population for Incorporated Places in
Massachusetts, Listed Alphabetically: April 1, 2000 to July 1, 2003":
http://www.census.gov/popest/cities/tables/SUB-EST2003-04-25.xls
and
"Annual Estimates of the Population for Minor Civil Divisions in
Massachusetts, Listed Alphabetically Within County: April 1, 2000 to
July 1, 2003":
http://www.census.gov/popest/cities/tables/SUB-EST2003-05-25.xls

- Rhode Island: the same explanation is valid here, Rhode Island's
info is all in the Minor Civil Divisions sheet of the spreadsheet that
I prepared for you because the Census Bureau include minor cities in
this category for census purposes. The Rhode island's Incorporated
Places are all cities larger than 10,000 inhabitants. See:
"Annual Estimates of the Population for Incorporated Places in Rhode
Island, Listed Alphabetically: April 1, 2000 to July 1, 2003":
http://www.census.gov/popest/cities/tables/SUB-EST2003-04-44.xls
and
"Annual Estimates of the Population for Minor Civil Divisions in Rhode
Island, Listed Alphabetically Within County: April 1, 2000 to July 1,
2003":
http://www.census.gov/popest/cities/tables/SUB-EST2003-05-44.xls

- Hawaii: here the Census Bureau has divided Hawaii as several CPD
(census-designated place). Hawaii is the only state that has no
incorporated places recognized by the U.S. Census Bureau below the
county level. All data for places in Hawaii reported by the Census are
CDPs. This is why the info about Hawaii places is missing from the
source dataset. I researched further about Hawaii at Census Bureau and
found the following table:
"Census 2000 Data for the State of Hawaii - Population, Housing Units,
Area, and Density: 2000":
http://factfinder.census.gov/servlet/GCTTable?_bm=y&-geo_id=04000US15&-_box_head_nbr=GCT-PH1&-ds_name=DEC_2000_SF1_U&-format=ST-7&-mt_name=DEC_2000_SF1_U_GCTPH1_ST2

Then I extracted from the above table the list of places of Hawaii
with a population between 3,000 and 10,000, here is the result of that
work:
Ahuimanu CDP, Honolulu County 8506
Aiea CDP, Honolulu County 9019
