Hi there,

I am interested to know the relationship between traffic violations in
different precincts, states, or counties. Let me explain:

In many counties in the United States, individuals who receive a
traffic violation (and have a clean record) are eligible for a
"continuance" (often known as "deferral").

Violators are not required to plead guilty (or anything for that
matter), must pay court fees, and must not receive another violation
for at least a year. If this criteria is met, the original violation
will "vanish," (and not affect insurance, etc).

So here is my question: What is the relationship between violations in
different parts of the country? If an individual receives a
continuance in one state, but then goes on to receive a violation in a
different state (or county, etc) -- will he or she be prosecuted for
the original ticket? (Is that Legal??)

And on the same line, how about things such as parole? Can parole
terms be violated if the offense is outside of the state the parole
was issued in?

Thanks!
