In terms of numbers go to: http://neighbourhood.statistics.gov.uk -Select Topics -Then Select Housing -Then Select Other Statistics There you will find links for -Tenure (KS18) -Tenure (KS18) for Amalgamated Parishes -Tenure - Households (UV63) -Tenure - Pensioners (UV45) -Tenure - People (UV43) Simply select the links you desire (probably best to start with Tenure), and it will produce a table. There is statistics available up until 2004. This will give you some indication to the first two parts of your question |

Also of interest might be the University of York's Centre for Housing Policy (CHP) at http://www.york.ac.uk/inst/chp/ They have conducted a lot of research into the Private housing market in the UK, along with the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. It also has a full joint website at http://www.ukhousingreview.org.uk/ which have the latest findings on-line. Hope this helps |
