Hi, I have a Dell Dimension 2400 with 256 MB RAM. I'd like to get another 512. Kingston says that my system requires this particular model: KTD4550 (http://www.ec.kingston.com/shop/modelsinfo.asp?SysID=16078&mfr=Dell&model=Dimension+2400&Sys=16078-Dell-Dimension+2400&SUBMIT1=Find) Is this my only option? Can I get another brand, or is this the ONLY stick that will fit in my machine? If there is another trustworthy brand that I can use, where can I buy it in Canada (obviously, only worth doing so if it's cheaper than the Kingston model). Thanks! |

I'm guessing they gave you that link because they sell the product. If this is your PC http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1610&page=1 then it will actually take any PC-2700 DDR memory. On the spec sheet it mentions that it has only 1 module, I'm not sure if this means it will only accept one stick of ram at a time. Maybe you'll have to buy a bigger stick and get rid of your old one. |

Hi, thanks for the comment. It is in fact my system. If you look at the pictures, you will notice that there are TWO memory slots, you just misunderstood (they said there was 1 FREE on a base system). I figured that this model of memory is just what Kingston wants to sell me. My original reason for this question is that I don't know if there are any other trust-worthy, dependable brands that will approach the Kingston price. Any thoughts? |

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim2400/en/sm_en/specs.htm Dimension 2400 only supports pc2100 and pc2700 type of memory. you can purchase any brand as long as it is either PC2100 (266-MHz) or PC2700 (333-MHz) DDR SDRAM (non-ECC) . and also the limit would be up to 1gb. suggested brand would be apacer, samsung, corsair |
