I need the make and model of any Dual Layer -R DVD recorders with a
hard drive (vcr combo unit is okay too). Also how much space you can
get on a dual layer recording disc.

I will tip if the unit can record if you can include hack to make it regionless.

I will also tip if it is a combo unit.

Here is a list of Dual Layer DVD recorders with Hard Drives
http://reviews.cnet.com/4521-6531_7-5021437-4.html?tag=subnav

A dual layer DVD is 8.5 GB (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVD)

Making it Region Free....
Pick one from the list and then we can search for hacks!
or maybe just purchase it with the hacks applied.
Dont forget the newish RCE which will make disks fail on region free decks:

One other thing....I hacked my computer DVD recorder instead (easier
to find the codes for free) and rip discs to the region I need...

I have no idea what the RCE is.

I provided the link....

Q: What is Regional Coding enhancement(RCE)?
A: It's a digital enhancement added to some Warner Bros and Columbia
DVDs to stop region 1 (R1) DVDs from playing on Region-free DVD
players.

Q: What's the difference between Region Coding and RCE?
A: Regional Coding enhancement(RCE) is an additional layer of
protection which some studios have placed on select REGION 1 DVDs to
prevent them from playing on region-free or multi-region players.

So...region coded DVDs will play on a region free DVD player.
RCE coded players will NOT play on a region free DVD player, the
player must either be for the region in question OR be a multi region
DVD player (this is different than being region free).
