Howdy hike-ga,

Did you find a reference to a prequel to "The Triumph of the Sun?"

The only thing I have found is a reference to "The Triumph of the Sun" being
neither a prequel nor a sequel, despite having references to characters from
Wilbur Smith's other novels.

Hello denco-ga

In essence, you have answered our question, and we would like to thank
you. We did not find any reference to a prequel, however throughout
the novel he does reference many characters from other novels which is
why we were searching for the prequel.

Would you mind answering our question with the above comment so we could thank you.

Howdy hike-ga,

Much thanks for accepting this as the answer to your question.

The only direct reference that I could find to Wilbur Smith's "The Triumph
of the Sun" not being a sequel, hence there being no prequel to it, is in
this review of the book on the "Dulce Cafe" website.
http://www.dulce.co.za/bookreview.php?bookid=55

"Even though the Courtneys and the Ballantynes are characters from some of
Smith's previous books, it ["The Triumph of the Sun"] is not a sequel or
prequel to any of their stories."

Supporting the above statement is the Wikipedia entry for Wilbur Smith.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wilbur_Smith

Please note in the above article that one trilogy has "Birds of Prey,"
"Monsoon" and "Blue Horizon" in it. The second has "When the Lion Feeds,"
"The Sound of Thunder" and "A Sparrow Falls" in it.

"The Triumph of the Sun" is not placed in either trilogy, so it appears it
is to be taken as a book apart from the trilogies about the Courteneys and
the Ballantynes.

If you need any clarification, please feel free to ask.
