I'm a Chinese-American currently living near Boston and looking to
move to a new city.  I am single and male, and I am interested in
finding out attitudes towards inter-racial dating. Obviously the more
specific the data the better. In fact, I?d throw in an extra tip if
you could find good survey data that profiled white and Hispanic
women?s dating attitudes towards Chinese American men in the specific
cities I?ve listed below. If that is not possible, then I may settle
for more general or indirect statistics (such as the comparative rate
of inter-racial marriages between all races, or stats on racial hate
crimes, etc.). In general, though, I prefer stats and articles that
speak as close to dating and relationships than anything else.
People?s attitudes seem to change significantly when it?s related to
who they?re bedding down with. For example, a white guy who would
never think to burn a cross in a front a black family's home might
still walk into a bar and automatically ignore every black woman in
the establishment. The cities I?m looking at are Boston, MA (for a
basis for comparison), San Francisco, CA, Austin, TX, and Atlanta, GA.

I am not very familiar with the other cities, but Austin, Texas is a
very progressive place. There are always a few wackos in any city, but
I seriously doubt that many folks in Austin would bat an eye at an
Asian man dating a woman of any color. Or, for that matter, a man of
any color.

Of course, you're going to get opinions from the p-nut gallery; it
will be interesting to see what real research turns up...

I would say San Francisco is definitely your best bet, if you really
don't want to be hassled at some point about the whole issue.

Boston would be my second choice if I were in your shoes.

Austin is cool,  but it's surrounded by Texas!

Don't know about Atlanta.

Have you considered Honolulu? I have heard that interracial
relationships are quite common and well-accepted there.
