I've looked at porn in the past while at work on my computer, and I started up again. I am finding it to be a hard time to stop.... well, basically, how can I not get caught with what I've already done? |

Mrryno.... You can be fired immediatley with "just cause" for going to porn sites while at work. You are using company time and company equipment for illegal activities. My suggestion to you is, that if you have a real *need* to check out porn sites, get your own personal computer and do it at home on your own time. Steph53 ( not a GA Researcher ) |

I think the question was - "Is there anything I can do now - after the fact - to make it less likely that I will get in trouble." It really depends on what your company does for monitoring computer use. You can clean up the browser cache on your local PC. Unfortunately, if your company logs individual internet access on their proxy servers, there's not much you can do at this point. Your best bet is to stop. Completely. If they track you down, tell them that you've stopped and won't start again (and don't start again). |

Basicly want you want to do is completely hide any tell tale signs of your "personal moments" If you are able to download programs I would opt for a "eraser" program. These programs not only clear your history but also cached files, cookies, temp files, typed urls, recent documents and on and on. When selecting a program make sure you get one that not only deletes once but also erases the free disk space left over to ensure ALL tracks are covered. As mentioned by someone before you will still have to deal with your company on if they track logs to internet access. But at least this will clean up tracks on the computer! One program can be found here: http://www.privacyeraser.com/free-internet-eraser.htm Good luck! |

"They" can still get the erased data from your hard drive if you are not careful enough to wipe/destroy the erased data using a tool (look here: http://www.download.com/3120-20_4-0.html?qt=wipe+data&tg=dl-2001&search.x=0&search.y=0&search=+Go%21+). I won't try to preach you any more about the unethical nature of your past deeds. You now know very well that it is not worth the risk. Anyway, aren't the IPs on the office LAN temporary (not-fixed and of this format 192.168.1.xxx). So how is it that "they" can point a finger at you as you can always say that you could had a different IP address then. BTW you can try to change your IP address by running ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew commands at the commmand prompt. Obviously, do use the command ipconfig to check your IP address before and after the IP address change. |

one question/suggestion in the same regard, how about using 'anonymous proxy' or some sites providing anonymous access to the internet.., won't it work?? |
