Dear Sparkyn,
First of all, for a "real" evaluation you should go to an
antiquitarian, that would tell you whether the statue is forged,
damaged, etc.
Your statue is most likely of the late 19th century, or early 20th
century (until 1930s), since Ruffuny ccreations were done by that
period (and are similar to other, more known, masters of that era).
These statues were usually duplicated in dozens of copies, which means
what you have is not unique and most likely a reproduction. As for the
artist itself, I found he was one of a long list of little-known
artists who done mostly what can be described as "artisanship",
meaning that their works did not carry some important artistic message
(compared with early 20th century masters), ratehr their art was
commercial.
However, I might have good news for you. Ruffony statues (also
reproductions) sell for $250 (http://www.bronzeart.com/sn067.html -
there are others in this site) to $1,380.00
(http://www.classicbronze.com/sun/bronzesb.html); You can also see
Ruffony sales here -

I add my search strategy, which was to search in art databases, in art
lexicons, and in google, for his works, under the name "Ruffony".
I hope that helped, please contact me with any other question. |
