Dear ranrace,

The problem you encounter has been reported various times in
connection with using Windows 2000. Since Windows 2000 is actually
Windows NT 5.0, the solutions available might also work for you. But
before I post this as a final answer, you should try and see if it
really works for you.

Please follow this link, scroll down to the section "Installing EAW in
WIN 2000" and read the instructions carefully:
http://www.cds1.net/~linkman993/SGwinxp2000.html

Please let me know if one of those solutions solved your problem.
Looking forward to your response,
Scriptor
