rgenins,
Opening in 1989 ?The Ansel Adams Center? (headquarters of The Friends
of Photography) maintain a website, that amongst other things sells
merchandise (big surprise, but the organisation is a registered ?not
for profit? group).
One product listing says it contains ?10 notecards with envelopes
selected from Ansel's most popular images?. Images are:
Moon and Half Dome, 1960
Monolith, The Face of Half Dome, 1927
Jeffrey Pine, 1940
Dogwood Blossoms, 1943
Yosemite Falls, 1950
Half Dome, Merced River, Winter 1938
Clearing Winter Storm, 1944
Nevada Fall, 1947
Vernal Fall, 1948
El Capitan, 1956 (1)
I suspect (as your answer specifies popularity over best) this is as
close as any apt answer will get. In doing so it is also relevant to
note that Mr Adams has a vast portfolio in existence, copyright being
owned by multiple parties; so it would be prudent to consider the
influence of ?commercial interests? on the cited sources selection.
