Question ID: 449936
Nissan has launched the 350z with a naturally aspirated engine. Will
they launch a version of the 350z with Twin Turbos? Currently after
market companies like Greddy do offer Twin Turbo Kits. However they
void the warranty. So its important for me to know if Nissan them
selves will introduce a 350z Twin Turbo Model.
Thanks

Hello Zaid175,

Of course, the "official" answer will have to come from Nissan. Having
owned one of the original 280 ZX's (with Turbo) which I finally gave
up after 20 years & 300,000 miles, I do have a few comments:
 - the 280 ZX was out several years before a Turbo version was produced
 - the original turbo was on an automatic only - the stick version came out later
 - the original turbo was recalled - thankfully mine died after the
recall was announced
 - the Nissan replacement died about two years later (now fully out of warrantee)
 - the third party replacement (sorry - no idea which one) was OK and
lasted a LONG time
 - a third party replacement MAY cause problems with keeping the car
registered (I lived in Southern California, and the replacement met
the smog requirements) since it may be considered an "unauthorized
modification of the emissions controls"

If it is really important to get an official version, I suggest making
your view known to Nissan (mail or email) and wait. You may also do
some research why Nissan dropped the turbo as an option - I can't
believe they did it for no reason. Otherwise, wait until your 350 Z is
out of warrantee and (if feasible) add a third party unit. The one I
used worked quite well and was completely satisfactory to me.

the nissan 350z has enough power for everyone but the most extreme in
its normally aspirated engine
