Looking for a painting title, or place to find an image on the web.
Not sure if it's by Manet or Johann Caspar Füssli, of a woman draped
over her bed with dark "creature" hovering over her. Looking for it as
visual reference to something called - Old Hag Syndrome. I know it's
not much to go on but if you have any art history edu. it's a
somewhat famous painting. Thanks !

Hi unfrozencaveman,

Can you please elaborate on what you mean by "creature"? Is this some
sort of a depiction of a human being or a mythical animal? Also when
you say hovering, do you mean above the woman in the bed, or next to
her? Is the woman in the bed nude?

Rainbow

Also, if you find the Fuselli image interesting, you might find this
site interesting as well ....

The "terror tales" section is especially fascinating.

I've experienced this phenomenon myself, but not nearly as intense as
some of the stories told here.
The fact that there's a scientific explanation for something the
subject experiences as very real, is a subject I find myself is a
drawn to. Much like Plato's Allegory of the Cave, but that's another
story.
