I sent email to a group, using microsoft entourage. I got a message
from Mailer-Daemon which includes this: "
HPS@smtp809.mail.sc5.yahoo.com.-216.145.48.35 does not like recipient
(more is in a code I can't interpret), but part of which it states
that the "message is in MIME format. Since your mail reader does not
understand this format, some or all of this message may not be
legible". My question: how do I change the format?

MIME type simply tells the system what application to use to display a
particular document. For example mime type of text/html will use
browser to display the document.
You can't change the format. What you can do is, open the document
using applications like notepad or word pad.
If you can post the complete error message including the error code, I
may be able to tell you the exact problem.

how do I change the format from mime?

Your problem isn't with the MIME type, looks like it's with the email
addressing in Entourage

<HPS@smtp812.mail.sc5.yahoo.com>:
> 216.145.48.35 does not like recipient.
> Remote host said: 550 5.1.2 <HPS@smtp812.mail.sc5.yahoo.com>... Unsupported
> mail destination

Entourage is trying to send mail to
"hps@smtp812.mail.sc5.yahoo.com", and yahoo.com mailservers are
kicking it back and telling you they can't find that address.

Entourage should be going through the HPS group and sending email to
each recipient at their own email address. For example if HPS group
consisted of:

Joe Smith jsmith@example.com
Jane Doe jdoe@example.net
Mary Roe mroe@example.biz

Then your group would show up as to HPS in send email screen, but
Entourage would actually be sending email to jsmith@example.com,
jdoe@example.net, mroe@example.biz, etc. Not to HPS@example.com

So check your Entourage settings for email accounts and also the email
addresses of the folks in your group. I'm not to familiar with
Entourage, so try also the Entourage Help menu or your PC's Help and
Support system.

hope this helps
