Why would old urls reappear in my internet explorer 6.0 history
folder? There are sites I haven't visted for months that are
reappearing from time to time. Is there adware or spyware out there
that would do something like this? Sites that have reappeared in my history are the
mars rover sites, craigslist, a clothing company I bought a christmas
gift from back in november that reappeared in december, etc. Nothing
malicious is showing up, just strange that old sites would suddenly
reappear in the history and am looking for answers as to why this
would be. Thanks!

As you may have heard, Windows/Internet Explorer does not actually
delete history information when you tell it to (or when it is set to
expire).

This web site wants to sell you a tool, but they do explain some of it:
http://www.purgeie.com/indexdat.htm

One of the .dat files will contain URL history. "Deleted" history
information is still stored but not supposed to show up. The .dat
files get larger over time. Using Internet Explorer's various "clear
history" related options will not make this index file get smaller
again.

Sometimes these index files are damaged in some way and "deleted" things show up.

After clearing History the urls dont come once again.

If it still comes then it could be bug, I do have IE 6.0 and once I
clear history, i dont see any urls appearing back. Try clearing
history.
