since I can remember there is a channel on television that just shows a monitor of some sort with a graph. It is in black and white and there is a sign that someone wrote on that has been propped up on top of the monitor that says the following: "ANTT: All Field Services Techs; Tighten Your Fittings!!!" On the top of the monitor -- it looks like there is a label from the maker of the monitor saying "STAM/Darrien". What the heck is this channel? And why has it been on tv for at least the past 26 years? (Right now I live in Greenwich, CT and it's on channel 121, but when I used to live in Roslyn, NY I think it was on channel 1. | |

I have not seen such a channel anywhere I have lived. My guess is technicians use it for a test pattern and rarely to send criptic messages to employees and sub-contractors. Tightning the fittings often improves picture quality. Loosen them 1/4 turn if necessary so you can tighten cable TV fittings, if your picture is less than perfect. Neil |

It doesn't seem like it would be a meesage that they send out-- because It's been there since I was a child and I'm 26 years old now. The picture has never changed. It shows some kind of frequency as well as this hand written note. And it never changes! So weird. |

Hi Starr, Ahh yes .. I wonder if it's the same reminder sent to Sony contractors in the days of contractor installation of televisions. TVs with videos were tuned in on a particular frequency. Contractors were reminded of the possibility of inadvertently exposing their reverse cleavage as it were to the ageing female clients. It was a reminder to keep their shorts hitched up as they hunched on bended knee in attending the said television sets. :) Phil |

This could be true... But why still have it on TV? Isn't it expensive to keep that running on the channel? |
