About 1915 to about 1930, one of several companies that manufactured FORD SCRIPT tools for the FORD MOTOR COMPANY marked or embossed the tools with S&R. The pliers were forged and marked FORD (script) followed by S&R. The monkey wrenches were forged and marked with the FORD script on the jaw and S&R PHILA. on the handle. I've also seen forged monkey wrenches marked S&R without the FORD script. I don't think S&R is Sears Roebuck. I thought they may have been affiliated with R.F. Sedgley of Philadelphia, PA. or even Simmons Hardware? Who is S&R? When did they start in business and when did they stop or merge with another company? Thanks for your help, toolguy445. |
