I haven't been able to find any detailed discussions about organizing
a College Day, but some of these tips for conducting a Career Fair
might be useful:

I've held a college fair before for students entering high school
(which I guess is close enough). We asked area college clubs (Circle
K, the service organization mainly.. but also Fraternities,
Sororities, etc.) to come in and speak about their experiences. We
asked admissions counselors to come and explain the requirements for
admission, and handed out various applications and brochures to the
different colleges. Additionally, we had the Residential Life people
speak about pros /cons about living on campus. Another idea, was to
hand out forms to the students (middle school) & get them to pick a
school or two in the area that they though they might like to attend.
They were then paired up with a volunteer student from that school,
and were allowed to "shadow" them for a day.
I'm glad you're doing this.. I wish someone had told me in middle
school the requirements for getting into college, etc.. so that I
could have kept my GPA up in high school, known the deadlines for
ACT/SAT, etc. If you have any other questions or comments for me, I'd
be happy to answer them.
