Hi starluck,
Can you ask your mother-in-law to examine the text again? Do you know
from which country this sampler originated?
There is a school, in Gualeguay, Argentina, that appears rather old!
http://ar.geocities.com/colegiosanjose_d48/
Lo hizo means "made", as in This was made by Pepa Tos
"y bru" may be a second last name, as is common in Spanish, Tos y Bru.
6 anos de edad means 6 years of age, or 6 years old
en el colegio de Ualeguay, is the name of a school or a school in a
town of Ualeguay or Gualeguay?
en el ano - in the year 1856
It may possibly really say de Dios, dado a mi Tia Dona Pepa, or 1856,
the year of our Lord, given to Aunt Pepa
It would be hard to say since some of the words are not properly
spelled or omitted.
Wish I could help more! Is there any way your mother-in-law could scan
the sampler and post the picture online?
