Someone once told me of a word he did not know how to spell, knew it meant, ?a perfect day, perfect moment, circumstances that all come together perfectly, created by God.? He had only heard it twice in his life once used by a pastor and another time, oh i don't remember. he pronounced the word as ?creous? or "kreus" although I know this is not the correct spelling it sounds in the neighborhood of these. he didn't know how to spell it, or where it was derived. Please tell me what the word is along with its formal meaning. | |

I am delighted to have been able to help you find your word! Kairos (pronounced "KYE-ross," with emphasis on the first syllable) is a Greek word for the perfectly opportune time. As used in the New Testament, "kairos" means "God's appointed time." Here is the definition of kairos as found in Merriam-Webster's Unabridged Dictionary: "kairos.. Function:noun Inflected Form: plural kairoi Etymology:Greek, fitness, opportunity, time... a time when conditions are right for the accomplishment of a crucial action: the opportune and decisive moment" Here you'll find a thorough and interesting discussion of the word: Wikipedia: Kairos http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kairos I hope this is helpful. If anything is unclear or incomplete, please request clarification; I'll gladly offer further assistance before you rate my answer. Best regards, pinkfreud |

The word "Kreuz" (pronounced like "kroitz") means "Cross" in German. I wonder if this could be the word the pastor used, in reference to the perfection of the Cross. |

Presumably, he was using one of the words in Greek meaning "time". |
