Hi 34ford,
Thank you for an interesting question.
Re: How to install cultured marble shower panels
http://www.terrylove.com/wwwboard/messages/3033.html
Question:
Hi, I need to replace the cultured marble panels in our shower, one
has a hairline crack. I've installed tile before so I'm going to try
this. I think the biggest challange will be to get the existing marble
out without destroying the walls completely. Any tips, both on
removing and installing.
Answer:
I always cut out and remove the existing walls and install new backer
board. This gives you a chance to inspect the wood behind the walls,
and gives a new surface for the "glue" that holds the new panels. For
cultured marble, you will want to use greenboard.

Cultured Marble - Goodbye Grout, Hello Happiness! By Tim Carter
http://www.askthebuilder.com/218_Cultured_Marble_-_Goodbye_Grout_Hello_Happiness_.shtml
"Installation of cultured marble tub and shower surrounds is really
simple. The process goes quickly if the wall surfaces are plumb,
square, and flat. The walls behind the cultured marble should be flat
white. Colored drywall or gray cement board can show through some
light colored marble products. Dry fit each piece to make sure they
are sized correctly. Remove dust from the back of each piece with
rubbing alcohol before you apply clear 100 percent clear silicone
caulk adhesive.
I prefer to start my installations with the piece that goes on the
wall I face as I enter the tub or shower. If you install the side wall
pieces first, your cuts on the final piece have to be perfect. That
can be tough for a beginner. Caulk all seams with a colored 100
percent silicone caulk that will closely match the cultured marble."

Cultured Marble Vanity Tops/Wall Panels Information
http://haydenhomes.com/service.maintguide/22.phtml
The beauty of your cultured marble can be easily maintained if you
follow these suggestions:
1. Before use, give your cultured marble a coat of automotive paste
wax, using a clean applicator and buffing cloth. Later, if the luster
seems to be fading, it is time for another coat of car wax.
2. Never use abrasive cleaners (i.e., Softscrub, Comet, Ajax, etc.)
to clean cultured marble.
3. Use a non-abrasive cleaner, such as Windex or Foaming Cleanser, or
even a wet wash cloth with soap on it, to remove soap build-up,
toothpaste, etc. Cleansers specifically for cultured marble are widely
available.
