Hi tcricon,

Here you go -

1) Close everything and back up your registry.

How to back up your registry:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/199762382617?OpenDocument&src=sec_doc_nam

Backing Up and Restoring the Windows XP Registry:
http://www.theeldergeek.com/windows_xp_registry.htm

2) Start / Run / type regedit

Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
  Software
    Microsoft
      WAB
        WAB4

Make sure the following DWORD value is set to 1:
UseOutlook"=dword:00000001

3) If you don't have the DWORD named UseOutlook, you will have to add it.

Edit / New / DWORD value / UseOutlook"=dword:00000001

Make Outlook XP/2003 and Outlook Express share an address book:
"In days past, Outlook and OE could share an address book (by
configuring OE to use Outlook Contacts). This was very useful for
people who use OE for their email, but want to sync with external
devices (handhelds, etc.), because synchronization software recognizes
Outlook Contacts, but not the Windows Address Book, which OE uses by
default. Microsoft decided to discontinue shared address book support
in Outlook XP, but it can be enabled by creating a DWORD value named
UseOutlook in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4, and
setting the value to 1. The usual warnings apply. Don't muck with the
Registry, if you don't know what you're doing, or you may be
involuntarily forced to follow Mischke's First Law of Computing. ;-)"
"Alternatively, you can cut and paste the following into a text
editor, and save it as a .reg file, which you can double-click to
apply the patch:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4]
"UseOutlook"=dword:00000001"

To share Contacts between Outlook and Outlook xpress:
Outlook 2002 and Outlook 2000 CW
Outlook 98 and Outlook 2000 IMO
http://www.slipstick.com/contacts/oeshare.htm#ol2002

I think that should do it. If you have any questions, please post a
clarification request *before* closing/rating my answer and I'll be
happy to reply.

Thank you,
hummer
