I am 53 years old and have worked for General Motors since I was 18 (35 years). I have paid the maximum FICA-lo tax for many years. I am anticipating an early retirement offer. If I retire now, how will this affect my social security when I reach age 62 or age 65? Thank you. |

Congratulations on a successful career and hopefully an early retirement. I could do a significant amount of work and give you an approximate answer for your many options from this point, but it would be easier and more exact for you to do it yourself. Here is a site that will calculate your benefits: http://www.ssa.gov/OACT/ANYPIA/ If you put in various data for your various options then you'll get fairly exact info for your situation. |
