I am using outlook 2003. I want to create a button similar to the
"Junk email" button. This is the functionality i desire: when the
button is pressed, whatever email is selected has a specific rule
applied to it (and if possible the rule should run). thanks.

Hi Russellz,

I find that Thunderbird is a great application for handling e-mail.
It's free, customizable, smaller and more secure than Outlook. I use
it exclusively. You can obtain it from
http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderbird/

You can easily set up a 'Junk' folder to hold spam and other unwanted
mail. When a message arrives Thunderbird will work out if it's junk
and if so, will label it as junk and can then move it to your junk
folder or delete it. You can review the folder to see if it acciently
marked something incorrectly. It's also possible to configure
Thunderbird to delete messages marked as spam after a specified number
of days.

Thunderbird has a clever 'Adaptive Filter' which determines which
e-mails are 'Junk' by learning from you. You just need to label any
unwanted e-mails as 'Junk' and Thunderbird will do the rest.

Thunderbird also has a 'Junk'/'Not Junk' button which works by
clicking one or more e-mails and then pressing the button. They will
automatically be moved to another folder or deleted, depending on what
you have configured the application to do.
