Dear anonoboy,

There is a charitable "Melvin van Peebles Foundation" in New York. If
anybody knows how to establish contact with Melvin van Peebles, it
must be the foundation he created:

The Melvin van Peebles Foundation
322 West 57th Street, #10T
New York, NY 10019

New York State Department of State, Corporation Database

The foundation certainly is the most promising approach. But I also
found out that the domain "melvinvanpeebles.com" is registered by a
New York artist consulting company (though there is no website yet
under that address). They recently promoted the Classical Theater of
Harlem's production of Melvin van Peebles' "Ain't supposed to die a
natural death". If they, as I suppose, have his approval for using his
name for registereing a domain name, they might be able to establish
contact with either him or his agent:

Brett Singer & Associates, LLC
240 West 44th Street #1
New York, NY 10036

Please let me know if one of these contacts proved to be useful for you!

Looking forward to your response,
Scriptor

Scriptor, great work. I called NYC information to see if there was a
phone number for The Melvin Van Peebles Foundation, and there was not.
Then I tried something perfectly normal: I asked for a listing for the
man himself. There was none, but as the lady said, "I do have an M.
Van Peebles" a block away from the foundation's address." One minute
later I was talking to Mr. Van Peebles himself -- a real gentleman,
and completely open to hearing the work of the young rap artist I'm
working with.
Thank you very much for your help.

IMDB Pro (a subscription-only service) usually provides good contact
info, but for Melvin Van Peebles, the "Contact" section is greyed out.
