Here's some old data (from the CIA World Factbook if no reference is given):
United States:
highest 10%: 30.5% (1997)
GDP per capita: $37,800
Assuming highest 10% is still around 30.5%...
30.5 / 10 * $37,800 = $115,290

United Kingdom:
highest 10%: 27.7% (1995)
GDP per capita: $27,700 (2004)
Again assuming the top 10% hasn't changed much...
27.7 / 10 * $27,700 = $76,729

Worldwide:
Highest 10%: 53.4% (1992)
http://www.econ.yale.edu/~krieger/world_inequality_1820-1992
GDP : $36.4T (2003)
http://devdata.worldbank.org/external/CPProfile.asp?SelectedCountry=WLD&CCODE=WLD&CNAME=World&PTYPE=CP
Population: 6.3B (2003) Worldbank also
Once again we'll assume the top 10% hasn't changed alot (probably not
more than a couple % change)
$36.4T / 6.3B * 5.35 = $30,911

Good luck with Europe's top 10% info, but here is their GDP & Population:
GDP : 1.4T (2003) Worldbank
Pop : 472M (2003) Worldbank

I expected a huge gap between the US and the world... but it's
interesting to note that the world's top 10% make less than the US's
average person.

**the US makes up about 5% of the world's population 300M of 6B

Any job offers out there for an aspiring economist with a BA in
economics and a couple years of finance experience?
