My PC crashed a few days ago, so I rebooted my PC to find that my external HD was no longer mounted and therefore was not visible or accessible in windows xp so I tried to mount my LaCie d2 500Gb drive again like instructed to do so in the manual by turnign on the HD then plugging in the Firewire cable to my PC I tried this for days with no luck at all so (I also tried connectign the drive using USB cable also to see if it would mount). I decided to look up some thing son the web to see what could be done and it turns out many other people have similar if not the same bad experience as I had just have. When I turn on my HD and connect it to my PC it makes unusual clicking sounds while trying to initialise it's mounting but fails each time making it inaccessible and not possible to view any content of the HD. (while trying to get it to mount it did actually autorun/mount twice and I could see all files/directories were still on the HD but when I tried to access them my PC would either crash/freez slow down or I was not able to access anything and windows gave me some message saying it was not available and I have also had I/O errors too) Below are two web links that describe the symptoms I am experiencing with my HD: These two web links describe what problems I am having such as this: Failure Symptoms: * Specific files & / or directories become inaccessible and disappear * In more severe cases, the entire drive becomes inaccessible and disappears http://www.dataclinic.co.uk/data-recovery-external-disk.htm http://www.dataclinic.co.uk/data-recovery-lacie-big-external-disk.htm I would like to recover the data on my HD so if you can find any software that is proved to be capable of this then it would really help me I have already tried many programs including ontrack, software R-Studio, GetBackData and a few others all fail to work because the HD is not accessible and is not visible in XP home OS. Your Help Is Greatly Appreciated. |
