I am looking for any writings of James S. Gale who spent 40 years in
Korea and wrote many books and articles. I have his English writing on
Book, such as "The Vanguard", "Korean Sketch" and "Korea in
Transition". Does anybody have his writings in any journal or in the
form of Korean text? btw. I have his biography written by Richard
Rutt. So, something else please.

THE FOURTH RIVER.ORG website once had a .pdf online that was a
transcript of some of Gale's writings but the link to it is no longer
working for some reason.

Korea in Transition
By James S. Gale
Chapter VII, The Response of Korea
Missionary Education Movement of the United States and Canada New York, 1911

You might contact the web site and ask them if they can fix the link
so you can download it. They may not even be aware that it is
malfunctioning.

If you provide me one of his writing on Korean traditional religion,
that would be great.

tutuzdad-ga,

Your infor was great. You should take the money. What do I need to do?

You don't need to do anything. When a researcher has an appropriate
answer he or she will click the answer button. That will officially
close your question. Let's let this one sit a while though. Your offer
to let me claim the fee just for trying is generous, but I'd like to
see you get at least "some" kind of useful answer if possible before
resorting to that so quickly. Who knows, someone might actually have
something better.

There are some libraries holding copies of the journals mentioned
(e.g. "The Korean Repository")?

Would you like to know where these libraries are located?

Well, I am in Canada. If you can tell me how I can order to make a
copy of some article. Yes, it will help me.

"The Korean Repository" was reprinted in 1964 and seems to be still available:
http://www.paragonbook.com/html/browsesubj/fullcitation.cfm?item=16111

You can find libraries in Canada with a copy of this publication by going to
http://amicus.collectionscanada.ca/aaweb/aalogine.htm

Having clicked on "Search AMICUS" and chosen "Entire AMICUS database"
you can enter "Korean Repository" as "Title Keyword".
Clicking on "Submit" should provide you with 5 results.

"Publication suspended 1893-1894" according to AMICUS.
