Does the Canadian flag fly at provincial buildings in Quebec City? http://encarta.msn.com/media_461533646/Canada_Flag_and_Anthem.html Newfoundland, the former British colony, joined Canada in 1949. With the discovery of oil off Newfoundland & Labrador at Hibernia and higher world oil prices there has been a simmering dispute over offshore oil revenues. The dispute flared into a "Flag Flap" between the Canadian federal government, presently led by General Secretary Paul Martin, and the Newfoundland & Labrador provincial government, presently led by Premier Danny Williams. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20041229.wflag1229/BNStory/Front http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/1105014663987_24/?hub=Canada Martin says no negotiations until the flags go up again. My question is, does the Canadian flag fly at provincial buildings in Quebec City, the provincial capital of Quebec? | |

Hi again, grthumongous, Ok, after a frustrating internet search, I decided to go directly to the source. I phoned the Hôtel du Parlement and asked your question. They told me that the Maple Leaf flies inside the Legislature Assembly but not outside the building. They said it has never flown outside, only inside. If you have any other questions, you can phone the toll-free number. Hôtel du Parlement Québec (Québec) G1A 1A4 Phone: (418) 643-7239 Toll free number: 1 866 députés (337-8837) Fax: (418) 646-4271 http://www.assnat.qc.ca/eng/ecrire.html The photo at the following link clearly shows the provincial flag atop the Parliament Building. Thanks Hummer. And you *did* understand me correctly...it was the outside I was wondering about. Makes one wonder why the Upper Canada media doesn't... |

This is interesting, but it is not specifically about Quebec City: http://www.flagwire.com/display_article.asp?id=6863 |

You're welcome, grthumongous, thank you as well for your nice rating and tip. I'm glad to hear we were on the same page. It's funny how it hit me out-of-the-blue, you know those moments when something is furthest from your mind and all of a sudden, bonk, did he mean *inside*? By the way, the maple leaf *does* fly outside the Quebec City Town Hall (unless something has changed recently). Take care, hummer |
