As I watched two different nominees testify before the Senate, I
wondered if nominees are in any way financially compensated before
they are confirmed.  I would suspect that it is not cheap to provide
all the information requested nor take time away from a paying job to
prepare and go through the confirmation process.  I understand that
these folks aren't poor to start with, but it is a sometimes long and
painful process.  They should be compensated in some way...
