Question ID: 453611
Who knows a Game TV-Channel in Europe, USA, Asia or Australia?
Who has a list of TV Channels who create revenue through games, quiz-shows?

I am searching for Game TV Channels who earn money only due to the
response of the audience:
you pay per call, pay per Text-Message (SMS) via mobile or telefone.

So these TV-Channels change the classic business model of TV. Because
they do not earn money through advertising.

Nation217 is a great example in UK.

I already know:
www.nation217.tv
www.spika.tv and
www.9live.de

Thanks :-)

Here is an article I found:

German Quiz Shows Thrive as Contestants Stay Home

The smiling quiz-show host, a former singer with a German boy band,
stares into the TV camera and directs the caller to unscramble a
four-word clue: Atle Lebie Sotret Nicth.

"Alte Liebe rostet nicht," answers Brigitte, on the phone from
southern Germany. "Old love doesn't rust."

In pure entertainment value, it may not be "Upstairs, Downstairs" - it
may not even be "Survivor" - but on German television, a call-in quiz
channel is the nation's fastest-growing broadcaster.

The channel, based in the Munich suburb of Ismaning, is called 9Live.
This month, viewers in Austria, Germany and Switzerland will call its
switchboard tens of millions of times, paying 49 euro cents a call
(about 60 cents), to participate in the station's live quiz shows.
9Live splits revenue from the calls with the German phone carrier
Deutsche Telekom. Callers are lured by a chance to win jackpots that,
so far, have reached 100,000 euros ($121,000) and by the promise of TV
fame, no matter how fleeting.

"The business model is successful," said Christiane zu Salm, 37, the
chief executive of 9Live's parent company, Euvia Media, whose
controlling shareholder is the New York-based InterActiveCorp, owner
of the home shopping channel HSN and the travel Web site Expedia.

"We're getting 18 to 20 million calls a month," Ms. zu Salm said. "I
think it's an enrichment in the German programming palette to have
this type of TV format."

It has certainly paid off for InterActiveCorp and 9Live's minority
shareholders - including Ms. zu Salm, who has a 3 percent stake.

In 2003, 9Live's sales surged 30 percent, to 78.7 million euros, while
earnings (before interest, taxes, amortization and depreciation)
almost tripled, to 29.3 million euros.

"9Live is a real phenomenon in Germany," said Michael Lessig, a
consultant. "They were the first to believe in this type of quiz-show
programming."

The channel, broadcast to 80 percent of German households with
televisions, offers eight hours a day of live call-in shows like
"DreiZwoEins" ("Three, Two, One"); "Glücksrad" ("Wheel of Fortune");
and "Alles auf Rot!" ("Everything on Red!"). The rest of its 24-hour
schedule is filled with travel features, prerecorded game shows, a
soap opera and self-help programming.

9Live has become the most imitated format on Germany's dial, spawning
copycat quizzes on national channels, on regional broadcasters and
even on a new pan-European satellite TV station, Spi.Ka TV, that is
dedicated exclusively to game shows.

GSN.com is a gaming Network - but not focussed on payed (telefone,
mobile) gambling. I also found them via google.

Nation217.tv is the best example - I am searching for TV Stations and
programs like this.

Best,
Monty
