Ethernet Problem

My laptop PC dont regonize my Ethernet Modem if i connect it to its Ethernet PORT. Even the light dont FLASH when i put the cable on. If i Put the cable in other PC its OK. What is the Problem. The Netwrok Card my my laptop its connected throgh PCMCIA slot. Is the PCMCIA the problem ? |

It is posible that you are using a 'straight' ethernet cable, these are usualy used to connect a workstation to a hub or switch, as opposed to a 'cross-over' ethernet cable wich is usualy used to connect two workstations to each other directly without a hub. Some newer ethernet equipment has an auto-sensing function that allows it to adjust to the cable being used. This could be that one of your PC's has an auto-sensing ethernet card and the other does not. |

Try connecting the cross over cable from PC to your modem and check whether you get the link up. |
