In about 1980 I insulated the hollow side walls of my house with a
poured in material called dacotherm. It was a white fluffy
mineral-like material that when crushed tuned into a very compact fine
dust. I cannot get any additional info. on this material.

A search of US Patent Registrations reveals a reference to the
substance in Patent No. 4,373,005.

"...10% by weight of DACOTHERM brand expanded silicate aggregate,
which is the product prepared by the process of U.S. Pat. No.
4,203,773, obtained from Diamond Shamrock Corporation."

A search on the above referred Patent number reveals the composition
of the material.

U.S. Pat. No. 4,203,773
Abstract
"An improved process for the preparation of an expanded, water
insoluble silicate aggregate. Anhydrous alkali metal silicate is
hydrated in the presence of a curing agent, then is subjected to rapid
thermal expansion. The process eliminates the use of liquid silicates,
and the reaction is conducted in an essentially dry state. The
expanded product has extremely low bulk density."

Excellent, now finally I am wondering if they are any health hazards
associated with the product once it is installed and for the installer
(me) after installation. I tried to wear a good mask while working
around the product's dust and did half of the job from the outside of
my house. I used a third of a semi full of bags. I can't remember
how many exactly but I would guess about 200 big bags about the size
of a 30 gallon garbage can.

Dear tugboati-ga,
Thank you for tip. I can understand your concern if the product is no
longer available. Personally, I don't think I could research the
material and its health hazards (if any) as it is not an area I have
any knowledge in. Perhaps another researcher may be able to assist you
if you post it as a question.
