When my father's family fled Poland at the onset of World War II, they were transported from Kovel in Ukraine to a city in Siberia that I couldn't make out from a video testimony. It sounds like "Asiml" or "Aseemil." I know that while there, my grandfather worked at a wood mill. I'd just like to know the actual name of the city, and if you have any more information on it, all the better. Thanks. - David |

Hi, A Soundex search of those two names you provided at the JewishGen ShtetlSeeker (a geographic database of Eastern Europe) comes up with no links for Siberian cities. The only place in Siberia that comes up is Azanel, a very small place in the Tyumen region. |
