I am trying to replace a Goebel figurine I bought in Germany about 20 years ago (Joseph in the Flight into Egypt). I find the figure on e-bay and also on QVC. On QVC it is advertised as a "Goebel Heirloom" and is made in China. Is it still a real Goebel? Does the Geobel company now make it's items in China, too? What should I look for in a genuine Goebel replacement? The bottom of my figures say ROB and are followed by numbers and a year. | |

Geobel Heirloom seems to be a legitimate Geobel brand. Info from the company website at http://www.egoebel.com/brands.asp?brand=gift suggests that Goebel Heirloom is not manufactured in Germany: The Goebel Heirloom Collection features porcelain giftware for all occasions designed by the master craftsmen of Goebel in Germany. To me, that sounds like it's designed in Germany, but not manufactured there. Since it probably is an authentic Goebel product, emailing the company and asking if it is the same product that you purchased in Germany may be your best bet. This previous Google Answer: http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=56157 describes how another question was answered with help from a Goebel company representative. |
