I would like to know how many businesses in the Chicagoland area have:
20-50 employees 
50-250 employees
250-500 employees
500-1000 employees
or the closest you can get to those breakdowns (for example, if you
can get info on 0-100 and 100-250 that would work as well.)

Please modify the question to number of businesses and organizations
in the Chicagoland area with 50-100 employees, 100-250 employees and
250-500 employees.

You can get detailed information on the number of firms in each
employee-size category for the entire state of Illinois at:

http://www.census.gov/epcd/susb/1999/il/IL--.HTM

At the bottom of this page is a link to a downloadable Excel data file
that will give you breakouts of the data for individual metropolitan
areas (including, of course, Chicago).  On the same page as the
download, you can also click on a button to request that the census
bureau create a custom-tailored file for you.  Good luck.
