You shouldn't have to do the whole crtl thing to open a hyperlink. Is your internet privacy set to high in your internet options? To check this go to tools. internet options, privacy and make sure the slider is set to no more than medium high. Did this just recently happen? Ok now im going to run through the useuall checks. Do you have something on your computer that is affecting the way it is suppose to function. Ok for this you need to run a updated antivirus. And to check for adware download a free version of ad-aware. After you have run these two and made sure that your system is clean and you are still having problems then get back with me and I will see what I can do to help you. Both of these are free. AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.289 http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10342876.html?tag=lst-0-2 Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition 1.05 http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10319876.html?tag=lst-0-1 |

David, I appreciate your attention to help with this issue. I ran Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition 1.05 and it found some cookies and other stuff and I deleted those. I have Norton Anti-Virus Corp Edition on my computer so I didn't download AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 7.289 because I already have Anti-Virus software. I checked my Internet Options, Privacy setting and made sure they were all OK. I made sure the Pop-up Blocker that came with SP2 was turned off too. I'm still having the same issue. I can't click on regular links in a webpage (I'm using Internet Explorer 6.0 Edition) and have them do anything unless I hold down CNTRL KEY. Worse yet, if I go to... for example the Cingular Phone website and I try to listen to new ringers; I can click on the links and when I hold down CNTRL KEY I'm brought back to a NEW PAGE opening to my HOME PAGE setting which is eBay. This started happening about 4 days ago. I don't know why. I even tried a system restore but that didn't work. I'm perplexed! Am I the ONLY ONE that has ever experienced this challenge out of the entire Internet? It's so frustrating because I listen to music and I can't click on links anymore without it bring me back to my HOME PAGE. The only way around this is if I view the PROPERTIES and look at the exact link and COPY AND PASTE it into my browser. This only works part of the time because the server times out if the link is too long. I'm sure you know what I mean... Anyway, help if you can. Thanks! |

This happens sometimes. Here is a solution from Microsoft that will probably fix it: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;281679 It can be because the registry was meddled with by crummy software that was installed or a problem with creating a custom version of IE, but you aren't the first to have this problem. |
