Question ID: 454757
I'm looking for information on prom/formal dances for couples that have
already graduated from highschool and college. My primary interest
would be dances that are in the chicagoland area, but would also be
interested in info for dances in California. I don't want to be a
chaperon, but rather actually have a date and attend the dance as a
participant. I am 24, and so is my date, so any dances that have a 21
age limit is fine. For the dances in California I would like
locations that are within a reasonable driving distance
from one of the major airports as I would have to fly in and drive to
the dance. Thanks in advance for your help.

...if for some reason there is absolutely nothing within my two
specified geographic ares of interest I would be interested in hearing
of other options. Thanks again.

Hello tlar-ga,

Would you be interested in fundraising or charity events? Do you have
a limit in mind on how much you would be willing to pay per ticket?

I would entertain a charity or fundraising event only as an absolute
last resort, and would like to stay at or below $100 a ticket. Thanks
again!

There are different charter schools in Chicago that have done 'adult
proms' as a fundraising event - Young Women's Leadership Charter
Academy has done this several times. [www.ywlcs.org Young Women's
Leadership Charter School of Chicago(312) 949-9400 2641 S Calumet
AveChicago, IL 60616] The prom is specifically for 'grownups' who
want to go to a prom again! If you are looking for that kind of an
atmosphere, then a school fundraiser is probably the way to go. Other
charity events usually aim for a theme, or to relate to their audience
in some way, so thematically to attendees or mission. A school is
then perfect. The development directors of all the Chicago charter
schools have a network, so if the YWLCS no longer has this event, you
can ask their director to refer you to another.
