I am looking for any newspaper articles or other information in
regards to a piece of news that was reported in the UK press in
November-December 1989.

A bomb threat (it was a hoax) was made by a Mr. Mark Rodgers, age 18,
to the FBI Headquarters in Washington DC stating that there was a bomb
planted by the IRA in the American Embassy, Grosvenor Sq, London, UK
to exploded on a date (cannot remember date specified- possible 14th
of November) in November 1989.

Any information would be most helpful. If there is a good amount of
information I am willing to increase the price paid.

**This would particularly suit an individual who has access to the
British Library (Newspaper Section) in central London.**

I should also have stated that Mr. Mark Rodgers (British National)
committed the crime of a bomb hoax in the UK (Harrogate to be precise)
and was tried at Marylebone Magistrates Court in Central London. He
pleaded Guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody for a few
weeks (for reports to be made on him for the court), and finally
sentenced to 3 months in Youth Custody.

Ideally I would like to access copies of original articles reported in
the press. I am happy for the researcher to simply point to the date,
page no, and name of the papers - if it s possible to obtain a scanned
image I am happy to pay extra for these.

I can find only one brief mention of this case in UK newspapers:

"Mark Rogers, aged 17, who telephoned the FBI in Washington to say
there was a bomb at the US Embassy in London, was sent to a detention
centre for three months by Marlborough Street magistrates..."

Quite possibly the case was reported on more extensively than this,
but the reports don't appear to have made it into online archives...at
least not those I have available.

I'll keep looking. In the mean time, if you can tell us anything more
about the case -- including how you came by the information about it
originally -- it might help in the search for more information.

Thanks.
