When I google a subject and click on a link or links, the print color in the link turns to a different shade and stays that way, I guess forever. I don't like the idea of leaving a trail of sites I've visited. Is there a way to make this color change not happen? |

dumfkduh-ga, The links will not change color forever. They will only be a different color for the number of days that your browser retains a history of visited links. To make sure the links never change color, change your History setting to 0 days. In Netscape: Edit > Preferences > Navigator > History Change the Browsing History setting to 0 days. You can also immediately clear your history by clicking the Clear History button. In IE: Tools > Internet Options The History setting is on the General Tab. Change Days to keep pages in history to 0 days. You can also immediately clear your history by clicking the Clear History button. If you do not see these settings, please post a request for clarification indicating which version of which browser you are using. - Hammer Search Strategy ----------------- history browser visited link color | |

If you're worried about leaving a trail of sites, you have much more to worry about than the colors of the links. After you're done surfing, clear your history using the Clear History button that hammer gave. Also in that same window (for IE), click the delete cookies and delete files (this deletes cached items). Also you should consider doing research in managing cookies. Because they also track your usage. Your firewall may also track sites that you go to. Clear out logs that they have too. |

On I E there is an "internet options" field under tools- Opera refers to this as preferences. If you are looking only to keep the color from changing on visited links and arent worried about anything else- you should be able to over ride the font colors for unvisited and visited links. This will also over ride the font color that the site indicates. It may take a moment of exploring on the pref's options to find the colors panel- but the Opera website states that it is available. If you want to completely hide where you have been then you will need to follow the other great advise found here. |
