Well, heck, Phil. My life just isn't very complicated. I guess I'm
looking at the world through the proverbial rose-colored glasses,
because, for me, every day is some shade of pink.

All alone Monday singing the Blues
All alone Tuesday reading the news
Staring and blinking
Sitting there thinking
All alone

All alone Wednesday till the dawn comes
By myself Thursday twiddling my thumbs
Friday is my day
So I spend Friday
All alone

On Saturday I dread the coming of Sunday
Monday the week starts anew

I'm certain I could endure the week till the end
and I am sure the days that I spend
Wouldn't be lonely if I were only
All alone with you

I agree with PB, Monday is definitely a Blues Day...

"Monday, Monday, can't trust that day . . . "       Mamas and Papas, 1969

Dunno about the colors (or colours, if you must . . .) of the rest of
the week, but I can say that my week is oval-shaped. The two flatter
sides are Wednesday and Saturday/Sunday. Monday and Tuesday, Thursday
and Friday are scrunched up at the narrow ends. Can't figure this
out.

Also, my imagined number line is a very odd shape. It wasn't until
very recently that I realized the shape corresponds to the age I was
as I entered each elementary school grade, and the layout of the
school itself (Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, etc, then three
years of junior high all in a row, then jogs over to four years of
high school, a semi-circle for the three years I spent in England,
etc, etc. I am now almost fifty and the number line is swerving
upward . . . . tell me, what does it all mean?

TS asked 'Tell me, what does it all mean?'

The true meaning can only be found in the writings of Joanna Southcott.

oh, blimey !

it's all so abstruse and recondite!

(tell me, are these real words?)

I need some Cliff Notes on Joanna Southcott . . .

(and Phil, before you say it, severe weather has prevented further
investigation into the 1956 library ledger . . . have you seen a
weather map of N. America lately? oh, you of Southern Sunshine and
backwards draining drains . . .)

thrills and chills,

Pink .. and to which angstroms might you refer?

PB .. I can relate to those words too.

TS .. Well I'll be. My week is the same shape as yours. Viewed back a
bit from Friday and at about 30 degrees above the horizon, it too is
indeed oval. Has been since I was a kid and too the colours of the
days. Still don't know what it means either. My timeline is a dead
straight incline from left to right. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the
only crazy one here. I fail to see how clockwise drainage can be
wrong. No, I would not dare mention 1956 again. I'm happy to see the
message got through. Terrible weather here too. Temp only gets to
around 28-30C with light cool evening breezes. It's difficult to cope!

When I attempt to think of days of the week in terms of what color
they are, I draw a complete blank. The two concepts just don't have a
point of intersection for me. Places do. Moods do. But not days of the
week.

Now we're talkin' .. this is what I'm after.

FJ .. thanks for the correlation and the informative links.
Interesting to see that our Tuesdays and Wednesdays coincide.

Hammer .. OK, tell me more about your colour of places and moods and
your understanding as to why.

Psychedelic Steph .. I'm glad that you too understand this.

And to think that I was the only one going nuts!

<<< Hammer .. OK, tell me more about your colour of places and moods and

I associate colors with how I feel about something. Days of the week
are not associative for me, so I don't have any particular feelings
about them. I don't have the normal 9-5 M-F life, so Monday isn't
especially depressing and Friday does not bring a sense of release.

I do tend to have strong positive or negative feelings about places I
am or go. I associate my home with soft warm candlelight colors. I
associate my office with strong warm colors like brick red. Places I
don't enjoy, like nightclubs and hospitals, I associate with extreme
warm colors (fluorescent red-orange) or sallow cool colors (dirty
beige-green).

As to moods:
Excited = Bright Yellow
Pensive = Soft Blue
Sad = Gray
Angry = Black
Working Hard = Red
Happy = Soft gold
Loving = Gold and green

Take colors of the spectrum...red, orange, yellow, green, blue,
violet, add either infra-red or ultra violet, and you have seven
colors to assign. Or add magenta, which is easier to conceive than IR
or UV.

Good lord, Monday is ALWAYS red! Grey??? How scandalous! ;-)

What you're referring to is "synaesthesia" - the merging of senses:

://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=synaesthesia&btnG=Google+Search

As for me, Monday, the number 1, and the letter A are always red.
Tuesday, 2, and B are always blue.
Wednesday, 3, and C are usually orange, but they can be leaf green, too.
Thursday, 4, and H are totally brown.
Friday is ocean blue.
Saturday is yellow.
Sunday is changeable, but usually white.

Synaesthetes can be quite defensive of their color associations. It's
not unheard of to butt heads over things like this :-)
