How do you get your small business featured in magazines, or press?
We are an online retailer & tshirt design small company doing well
with our online sites, WeakMindClothing.com & CkyMovies.com and
others.

I recently read an article about a 15yr old who is making great
profits from his blog site and was amazed that he was featured in a
top publication. We have been flying under the radar for over a year
now, and doing quite well.

We are curious how to get featured in magazines as a breakout company,
with fresh shirt designs, ect.

There is no answer at this time.

The hardest way is to wait until someone discovers you.

The easiest and best way is to get the help of a professional - they
know how to write a press release and what publications and/or other
media is best for your type business. They often maintain
relationships with key contacts there as well which always helps. The
catch with this method is that you have to pay them.

If you're intent on doing it yourself, check out a number of "how-to" sites, eg
http://www.alouwebdesign.ca/smallbusiness/how_to_write_a_press_release.htm

You can start by sending to local publications and media outlets.
Major tips: always include your contact info, make sure it's not
ho-hum, but absolutely tell the truth (don't exaggerate) - and get the
names of contacts first (don't send to "to whom it may concern", etc.)

There are also a number of newswires that you can submit your press
release to and then hope that someone picks it up. Of course, you
often have to pay for these too.

good luck

Professionals are in the field of PR (Public Relations) - many firms
specialize in this or many marketing firms do this also.
