I currently use QuickBooks Premier Edition to run a small business. In
our business, we have accounts set up with clients where we go set up
and sell for the day at different sites our clients provide. We have a
small trailer full of products which consist of leather goods and
gifts. (Backpacks, Luggage, Fanny Packs, Purses, ETC) Anyways what I
need is a way to track these items. Figure we have about 200 different
products, so it?s not too huge, but still a good amount. What I want
to be able to do is code each separate item with its own UPC code.
Some of our items come with upc?s already on them. The one?s that
don?t, I want to be able to make a simple upc code. So in other words,
I want to be able to scan every item and have it linked with the
computer.

What I would like to accomplish:
1.	I want each product to have a upc code
Some products have a UPC code already on them (from the manufacture),
Other products we sell (like small bracelets) do not have a UPC code,
so I need to be able to generate one for that product.

So in other words, I would to be able to scan each item into the
computer into an inventory list to maintain a very accurate inventory.

2.	I want to be able to use some kind of handheld device (palm, small
scanner, no computer/laptop) in order to scan items. I want it to have
a memory in it so I can simply download what has been scanned into the
computer. The device should be able to scan items in and out. (so when
new products come in, I can scan them, upload it to the computer and
it will add them to inventory and the opposite when we are selling
products)
3.	I would like it to be compatible with QuickBooks premiere. If not,
I am open to new software (I know QuickBooks has some point of sale
software)

I would like some multiple options in the answer. I really would like
it to be compatible with QuickBooks as we keep track of all of our
bills and sales in QuickBooks.

So the bottom line is, I need something that is easy to keep track of
my inventory and business none the less. QuickBooks does a great job,
but I just need a better way to keep track of the inventory. If you
need any clarification of what I am looking for, just ask.
I just need to get up to speed with this stuff.

I want something that is very simple and easy to set up. I don?t need
anything to advanced as we only have a few hundred products.

Thanks!

I have a simular problem, We are a surplus company each item is a
different inventory item. Quick books gives up at 15,000 items. plus
it gets very slow over about 2000. We are trying to find a program
that will handle the inventory
and still be compatable with quick books. The big problem being that
the programs I have found cost 4 times more than quickbooks itself.
