Is there any possible way to see if email sent to persons outside my
aol server has been read?

Has it already been sent? I can tell you how to tell if FUTURE email
has been opened (no guarantee their eyes scanned the email), --but not
one that has already been sent.

Yes, Cynthia, I am inquiring about an email that has been sent via aol
to netzero. If there is no way then, yes, how can I tell if future
emails will be opened before I send?
Many thanks!

Hi carole123,

There's a Great FREE Service called "ReadNotify" that invisibly does
exactly what you want. Unfortunately, there is no way to "go back"
and see if a mail was opened without using *this* or a similiar
service. ReadNotify has other options if you want to pay for the
service, but the Free version works fine for what you want:

Here's the main page to sign up:
http://www.readnotify.com/readnotify/

What is ReadNotify?
http://www.readnotify.com/readnotify/about.asp
ReadNotify is the most powerful and reliable email tracking service
that exists today. In short - ReadNotify tells you when email you sent
gets read / re-opened / forwarded and so much more.

ReadNotify will endeavour to provide the following in your tracking reports:

    * Date and time opened
    * Location of recipient (per their ISP city /town)
    * Map of location (available on paid subscriptions)
    * Recipients IP address
    * Apparent email address of opening (if available)
    * Referrer details (ie; if accessed via web mail etc)
    * URL clicks
    * How long the email was read for
    * How many times your email was opened
    * If your email was forwarded, or opened on a different computer

Thanks for using our service! If I can be of further assistance in
regards to tracking emails, please don't hesitate to ask via the
"Request For Clarification" feature.

I think its improper to say that the service is FREE. Its free for a
very limited period... here is an Q & A from the FAQ of the website

"...What do I get with a free trial?
Everything that our Premium subscribers get - for 14 days or 25 emails
(whichever comes first). We will then send you an expiry notice; with
information regarding our Plans which you may wish to subscribe to if
you would like to continue sending emails via ReadNotify.

By signing up for a free trial you are never under any obligations to
continue using ReadNotify, and your email address will not be added to
any "lists" - ever!"

ddhara,

Thanks for pointing that out. I've been a subscriber to ReadNotify
for years and was unaware they started charging for their limited
service.
