The Small Business Administration has downloadable files on the distribution of small businesses in Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs), which is government-speak for cities. At: http://www.sba.gov/advo/stats/data.html#st you can download files for: State and MSA data (Microsoft Excel file for the PDF files) Classified by employment size of firm State totals, 1990, 1995, 1998, 1999 (PDF file) Download 1998 - 1999 state industry group data (about 1 meg.) MSA totals, 1995, 1998, 1999 (PDF file) Download 1998 - 1999 MSA major industry group data (about 1 meg.) Dynamic data, births, deaths, growth and decline State totals, 1998-1999 (PDF file) Download state major industry group data, 1990-1999 one year changes and 1990-1995 (about 1 meg., see the bottom of the file for column abbreviations) |

I had been to the site but unfortunately the data on that site is not organized and it would not directly meet my requirements. It is also not in a format that can be easily processed. thanks anyways. Akbabu |
