Question ID: 456936
My friend wants to get a voltswagon gti r32. It is awd and has 240 hp
stock. All in all, it seems like a fast car. It has almost the same
power if not more than the wrx sti, evo 8, mazda rx-8, acura rsx,
eclipse, etc. If this car is so good, why have i heard nothing about
it? Is it a bad car, does it brake, is there some catch. I need to
know the pros and cons? With the 30,000 it cost, what could i buy that
would be better.

A. it doesnt have the same power as those cars
             WRX STi = 300hp
             Evo 8 = 273hp
             Mazda RX-8 = 250hp

B. Volkswagens are heavy, which is good for normal driving (better
road feel) but bad for racing (understeer).

C. I would recommend the Evo 8. It is light, has a precise steering
feel, and a great racing suspension.

Well there are few things you want to consider; price, preformance,
and durability.

The Evo and the Wrx initially the same statistics wise but in a recent
article in car and driver i beleive it is this past issue or the one
before there is an article comparing the two. Car and driver has also
written articles about the r32 not sure what issue it is. But some of
there points were it had a great ride even at high preformance and
that it is a VW which makes 32,000 a pretty hefty price tag.

The Rx-8 is in a also a good car it has the different engine which
produces a lot of good preformance. But the it is a mazda so there is
not a ton of luxury.

There is also the consideration that an Wrx has AWD which is a big
plus depending on what type of driving you do. The Evo and the Wrx
out preform both the R32 and the Rx-8.

But if you are looking to spend 30,000 check out the infinity I35 and
G35 both which kick ass. I personally would but a used audi S4 or
something along those lines.

As it goes for acura, I drive one. But for 30g you cannot find that
type of preformance like the other cars. if looking into an acura
check out the new tls. or the 2003 tls or cl type S.
