Question ID: 457457
I am interested in any polls or statistical studies out there with
regards to at what age men lost their virginity.

The data would preferably come from a medium to large sampling of
people, and really should have been conducted at least semi-recently
-- no earlier than the late 1980s. Given the difference in sexual
mores between now and even, say, the '70s, older data may really not
be useful. The data would preferably be from a scholarly and/or
professional source, although this is not strictly necessary. (I
might imagine a corporate entity whose business is sexually oriented,
such as Playboy, Maxim, etc., might have at some point conducted
something containing this data, and if they have, if the sampling was
large enough, then that's fine.)

The above is the crux of my question. It would be nice, but not
necessary, to also locate any polls or statistical studies out there
that reflect women's reactions to virginal partners.

Although this question may sound as if it is not genuine (i.e., coming
from some troll), the fact is that I am a 30-year-old virgin, and I am
simply wondering exactly how small the minority I belong to is, and
how statistically likely it'd be for a potential partner to freak out
at it. I might feel more comfortable to know that, say (let's make it
up) 5% of men are still virgins at my age, or even __%.

Citations would be preferred for all data, preferably to an online
reference I can visit on the Web. If a reference to a professional,
offline periodical is necessary, please provide enough data so that I
could order the article through intralibrary loan.

If the amount I have offered for this amount of work is unacceptable,
please comment in the citations, and I will consider resubmitting.

To non-Answers staff who see this as an opportunity for cruelty -- I
simply point you to Google Answers' Terms of Service. By being cruel,
you will endanger your account, and as I will not be using this
account or handle after this question, your cruelty would not have
much purpose.

One thing that I did not make clear in my original question -- so I
hope it is not too late, as, oddly enough, the moment I hit 'submit,'
the system told me my question was now in the process of being
answered.

I am specifically NOT looking for average/median, i.e., something that
tells me, "The average age that men lose their virginity is 16.5." Or
something like that. That bit of data is easy to locate on Google.

What I am looking for (and was unable to find on Google) is more a
statistical spread, such as "1% of respondents lost their virginity at
age 13, 2% lost it at 14, 10% lost it at 15, 30% lost it at age 16 ...
" and so on. (Again, that data is just made up.)

Thanks.

"These three reprinted books contain most of the published statistical
data taken from the original interview schedules used by Alfred Kinsey
and his colleagues from 1938 to 1963 ... "

Unfortunately not useful in this circumstance.

Hi totallyblanknick: Polls and servays are not accurate for
information of this sort. A significant percentage of the experts
think the male virginity numbers by Kinsey and by Masters and Johnson
were low by 50% or more. To some extent, it has been a self fulfilling
prophesy. I'll guess 8% of the USA men are presently virgins at age
30. Half of these virgins have had anel sex and/or oral sex with
females and/or males of various species. 80% of these male virgins
have masterbated more or less deliberately, which is to say wet dreams
do not count as masterbation. 1/4 of the male virgins have defects
which reduce their sex drive sharply or make ejaculation unlikely.
About 1/4 of the male virgins can and do ejaculate, but do not get an
errection sufficient to penetrate to the vagina of the average woman.
Another 5% of the male population at age 30 are not virgins, but have
not penetrated a women in the past ten years, for a wide variety of
reasons. These numbers change very slowly or not at all after age 30
as a group, but individuals do change, so you should not feel locked
in to your present sexuality. Sorry I cannot back up any of this. They
are guesses based on comparitively few people I have talked to the
last 60 years mingled with what I hope is common sence. Neil
