In the novel series Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry (sp?), the
protagonist Gus MacRae says that some people are "noticers" and some
aren't; he claims he is "a noticer." I need to find the exact
quotation. I'm not sure if this quote is in the original novel
Lonesome Dove or in one of the subsequent novels Dead Man's Walk or
Streets of Laredo. I think it is in the former. I'd much appreciate
help in finding this quote. Thanks you.

This comes from Page 915 of "Lonesome Dove" (paperback edition):

"Once, watching the boy cross a corral after having worked with one of
the mustangs, Pea Eye said innocently, 'Why, Captain, Little Newt
walks just like you.'

Call flinched, but Pea Eye didn't notice - Pea Eye was no noticer, as
Augustus had often said."

Is this the right quote?

Hello Pinkfreud (pretty clever), Although this is not the exact
answer I was hoping for, I appreciate your answer because it gives me
a source albeit from the narrator not the protagonist. It's not quite
the right quote. I was looking for the spot in the book where Gus
himself utters the phrase about being a "noticer." I suppose it could
be that the screenplay differs from the novel and that Gus says it in
the video series but not in the text of the novel itself. I would be
happy to pay another $5 or more for the direct quote if it can be
found. Many thanks.

I suggest that we leave the question open, in case someone can come up
with the precise quote that you need. This was the only mention of a
"noticer" that I was able to find in McMurtry's books, but another
Researcher may be able to home in on exactly the quote that you need.
